Nothing Gold Can Stay
by Robert Frost

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold,
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

now that another school year’s started, i know i need to embrace this new season of backbacks, homework, and gym shoes. routine will be good again, and i think it’s just the momentum that we were starting to need around here. however, i really wasn’t quite ready for these golden days to end just yet. instead, i find myself holding tightly to these golden summer moments for a little while longer.
