Frequently Asked Questions

How can counseling help me?

Counseling provides a safe and supportive place for you to work through your unique circumstances with a non-judgmental professional. As your therapist, I’ll help you examine your thoughts and feelings and gain new perspectives as you work towards a healthier way of being. You will learn effective strategies for coping with any anxiety, depression, and/or overwhelming emotions and will gain a greater sense of wholeness and calm within yourself. Therapy is a process that’s best served by a commitment to showing up to each session with honesty and a willingness to try new approaches than the worn out ones you’ve been relying on. We’ll work together to identify changes you’re hoping to make in your life, what may be holding you back from that, and what can be done to improve your overall happiness and general sense of well-being.

What should I expect from my first therapy session?

Our first session together can be considered as somewhat of an introduction in the counseling process. It’s an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy and to talk about outcomes you hope to achieve. We’ll begin getting to know each other. We’ll discuss expectations and limitations of counseling. I’ll help you identify your hopes and goals to make the most of our time working together. This is also a time to discuss any concerns or questions you might have for me. Working with a counselor is an inherently vulnerable experience, and as trust is built between us, you’ll begin to feel more comfortable opening up and talking about important, but sensitive or painful, topics. We’ll follow a pace that is comfortable for you.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes long.

Do you accept insurance?

I’m considered an out-of-network provider and therefore do not accept insurance. However, many clients use flexible spending and healthcare savings accounts to pay for mental health services. Payment in full is required at the time of your appointment.

Where are you located?

My office is located in downtown Tomball and is conveniently accessible from The Woodlands, Magnolia, Spring, Champions, and other areas of NW Houston via Hwy 249 or the Grand Parkway. I also meet with clients throughout the state of Texas for virtual therapy sessions through a secure and confidential telehealth platform.

Do you prescribe medication for anxiety or depression?

No, I do not prescribe medication as doing so is outside the scope of practice of licensed professional counselors. However, if medication is something you’re potentially interested in, I can assist you with referrals to pursue that option.
